साफ-सफाई पर विशेष ध्यान देते थे. वे मेला ढोने का विरोध करते थे. गांधी जी कहा करते थे जाति के आधार पर एक आदमी को निम्न और बुरा केसे मान लिया जाए. गांधी जी छुआ-छूत के घोर विरोधी थे.दरअसल, अंग्रेजों के समय में मेला होने वाले, सफाई करने वाले ओर दलित जातियों के लोगों के साथ उठना-बैठना, खाना-पीना सामाजिक अपराध माना जाता था. इसलिए गाँधी जी ने एक जाति के लोगों का उपनाम ‘हरिजन’ यानी प्रभु के लोग का नाम दिया.
गांधी जी की ये इच्छा आज तक नहीं हो सकी पूरी
गांधी जी अपने जीवन काल में सत्य अहिंसा के धर्म का पालन किया. उनका सपना था कि देश से दहेज प्रथा जड़ से खतम हो जाए लेकिन दुर्भाग्य है करीब 100 साल के बाद भी इस कुरीति को खत्म नहीं किया जा सका. गांथी जी का कहना था कि बेटी की शादी में दहेज देने के लिए बहुत से लोगों को घर और खेत तक बेचना पड़ता है. इसके बाद लोग रोड पर आ जाते हैं. यह सभ्य समाज के लिए ठीक नहीं है. इसलिए दहेज प्रथा को खत्म किया जाना चाहिए.
बेटा-बेटी में भेदभाव के विरोधी थे गांधी जी
गांधी हमेशा कहते थे बेटे और बेटी एक समान हैं. किसी को भी बेटा-बेटी में भेदभाव नहीं करना चाहिए. एक बार गांधी जी ने कहा था कि अगर में महिला होता तो पुरषों की तरफ से थोपे गए अन्याय का पुरजोर विरोध करता, गांधी जी कहा करते थे कि जब तक लड़के-लडकियां ओर मां-बाप जाति का बंधन नहीं तोड़गे तब तक सदियों से चली आ रही सामाजिक बुराइयां खत्म नहीं की जा सकती.
गांधी जी महिला सशक्तिकरण के पक्षधर थे
महात्मा गांधी जी हमेशा महिला सशक्तिकरण के समर्थक रहे. एक उंन्होंने कहा था कि महिलाएं मां सीता और सावित्री का अनुकरण करें. हिम्मत रखें. एक बार महिलाऑ को संबोधित करते हुए गांधीजी ने कहा था कि अवसर यह कहा जाता है कि महिलाएं स्वाभाविक रूप से कमजोर होती हैं. उन्होंने महिलाओं को ऐसी बातों पर विश्वास न करने की सलाह दी. उनकी राय में महिलाएं भी पुरुषों जितनी ही कठोर हो सकती हैं. क्या कोई सीता या सावित्री को किसी भी देश के किसी भी पुरुष से कम साहसी मान सकता है? किसी भी महिला को यह नहीं सोचना चाहिए कि वह स्वाभाविक रूप से कमजोर (अबला) है.
महिलाओं को व्यवसाय की तरफ प्रेरित किया
गांधी जी ने महिलाओं को अपने समय का सद्पयोग कताई में करने की भी सलाह दी थी. उन्होंने कहा था कि दैनिक घरेलू कर्तव्यों के साथ-साथ वे सूत कातने में भी व्यस्त हो जाएं, तो इससे उनकी आय में वृद्धि होगी. यदि वे प्रतिदिन कम से कम एक घंटा सूत कात सकती हैं तो वे उन बुनकरों को सूत की आपू्ति कर सकती हैं. इससे उनकी आय बढ़ेगी.
हत्या से 10 दिन पहले भी हुआ था जानलेवा हमला
बता दें कि 2 अक्टूबर 1869 को गांधी जी का जन्म गुजरात के पोरबन्दर में हुआ था. 30 जनवरी 1948 को दिल्ली में नाथूराम गोडसे ने गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी. गोडसे ने गांधी जी का पेर छूने के बहाने पितोल से गोली मारी थी. गांधी जी हत्या से 10 दिन पहले भी 20 जनवरी 1948 को महात्मा गांधी पर जानलेवा हमला हुआ था. गोडसे समेत आठ लोगों को हत्या का आरोपी बनाया गया था. इनमे से तीन आरोपी सरकारी गवाह बन गए थे जिसकी वजह से वे छूट गए. गांधी जी के पिता का नाम मोहनदास करमचंद गांधी था तो मां का नाम पुतलीबाई था. गांधी जी के पिता राजकोट के दीवान थे.
